Everybody talks about ‘awareness’. Ok, then, what am I supposed to be aware of? Because ‘awareness’ is just an empty word without really knowing what, as I said, to be aware of. Of course, there are endless amounts of things to be aware of in your life. Everything from the smallest to the biggest things. Here, though, I am only thinking about some very few essential things that might contribute to give you a more stress free life and a different experience of life. Here’s my Top 6 ‘awareness list’:

We live for ever and are not our bodies, but rather ‘consciousness’ experiencing life in a body. There’s no ‘death’.

Everything in this world is created by me/us through our thoughts, feelings, words and actions.

God, You and I is One and the Same.

We Don’t Need Money. Experience the liberating feeling of a resource based gift economy.

Happiness is Inside. Never let any outer circumstance (like money) determine your happiness.

Your reality is like a mirror, reflecting your inner state, albeit somewhat delayed.

Of course, every one of these points could have filled several books. And there are written several books about them too, and thousands, if not millions of people have had experiences that confirms them. Keeping these points in mind, at least for me, produces much more good feelings than anything else, and these feelings are reflected in my life as positive experiences. These points might seem scary at first, but when you come to terms with them, think about them, read about them, and maybe experience them, they start to be soothing and liberating.

Living in the conscious awareness makes you think about what you can give, rather than get. It makes you live a life of joy, rather than regret. It brings you happiness at heart, it fulfills your dreams when they are for the common good, and it gives you a lasting kind of happiness, rather than the typical roller coaster feeling you get from being ‘money smart’.

From now on we will ADD the NEW MOON time every month to the World Meditation Day. You can meditate on the first Sunday or at the New Moon in every month, or both. We do this because the NEW MOON is an unbiased celestial event happening at the same global time all over the planet, unlike the calendar event that is bound to the western calendar.

The most important thing is that everyone is aware of the day being a World Meditation Day with people meditating all around the world at this day. Be it at the same time, or different times during the 24 hour period.

Here’s a New Moon calendar:
http://www.light-weaver.com/calendar/2009.html

Here’s a timezone converter:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html

So now, the dates are:

DATE 1: First Sunday of every month.

Anytime during the Sunday will be fine, but the core time is 7 – 8 in the evening, your time.

DATE 2: New Moon of every month.

Anytime during the New Moon day will be fine, but the core hour STARTS at the New Moon global time.

Use the New Moon calendar to find the next new moon. Use the timezone converter to find your local time.

There are many ways to meditate. And when doing the WMD meditation one can of course do any kind of meditation that works best for the purpose. Be it a ‘guided’ meditation, a group meditation where everyone gets in a word, TM meditation, Vipassana meditation, light meditation, or what have you. In this article I want to write about two meditation techniques that work for me on a daily basis, and they’re free to learn too. In my opinion, true spiritual practices are taught for free. Money is only something that blurs the truth. Anyway. My methods are The Knowledge and Falun Gong. They complement each other in a nice way, I think. Even though their respective ‘guru’s’ will probably say that you should only stick to one practice, I follow my own feelings about this. And it works for me.

The Knowledge is taught for free by Maharaji, or Prem Rawat, which is his real name. The ‘problem’ with this practice, though, is that you can only learn the techniques from Maharaji himself, and you have to plow through a host of DVDs with him talking first. Now, I will admit that he has a lot of good things to say, and I managed to get through the DVDs eventually, but it took me about a year. Of course, this might discourage you trying to learn these techniques, but be assured, it’s all free, (and you can skip ahead, but don’t tell anyone I told you). You borrow the DVDs from a local ‘library’, send them back when you’re done, and order next package of 6 DVDs. Each package is called a ‘key’, and it is 6 in total. The sixth package is the teaching of The Knowledge itself. It is done by you coming to a designated location and watching Maharaji from a DVD teaching the techniques on a screen. There are helpers there, facilitating the process of learning the 4 techniques.

If you are curious about what the techniques are all about, I can say ‘it’s nothing special’, at least not outwardly. But they work for thousands of people all over the world, including me. They are 4 simple ‘positions’ of your arms, hands and head that are to be held an amount of time each. One have to understand, though, that the techniques are not ‘end all be all’ when it comes to Maharaji. What he says is just as important. And the main message is that happiness and fulfillment is within. Not outside of you, but within. And the techniques helps you look within and find you fulfillment there.

At first I didn’t feel much when I tried them, but after a couple of weeks I started to get the good ‘fuzzy feeling’ in my chest that is described by many. And for the first time, a meditation techniques eased the ’shortness of breath’ that I have felt so many times during stressful periods in my life. With these techniques my breath calms down and I can breath easily without any effort. In other words, my mind is automatically calming down when I do the techniques. And they are not difficult to do. They are really easy. You only have to do them a while to get the effect. But when you do, it’s totally worth it. To learn more about it, go to www.thekeys.maharaji.net.

My other meditation technique is, as I said, Falun Gong. I think this technique complements The Knowledge in many ways, even though it can totally stand alone. While The Knowledge is mostly about ‘inner peace’, Falun Gong also helps to heal your body in a unique way. The advantage of Falun Gong is also that it can be taught by anyone that have learnt it, and of course, it’s also free. While The Knowledge builds on a thousands of years old technique from India, Falun Gong builds on thousands of years old chi gong techniques. Falun Gong was developed by Li Hongzi and released to the public in 1992. Falun Gong also includes a whole philosophy, even though more Buddhistic in style than Maharaji’s ‘religionless’ talks.

Falun Gong consists of 5 techniques that include your whole body. Two of them are quite challenging in the beginning and includes static body positions held as long as you can. The other 3 are more energy balancing movements. The static techniques are the more meditating ones, even though the whole process is done with closed eyes and an inward meditative focus. Falun Gong didn’t give me that deep relaxed breathing I got with the Knowledge, at least not in the beginning. It took much longer to become relaxed with Falun Gong. What it does do, though, that The Knowledge does not (not in the same way, at least), is to heal my whole body, straitening up my back and curing any ills I might have.

So, to me these two techniques complement each other. I must say, I do them to infrequently, but alternating between them every second day would be the ultimate combination. To learn Falun Gong, go to www.falundafa.org. Unfortunately Falun Gong has been banned in China by the Chinese government, and practitioners have been arrested, tortured and stolen organs from. Falun Gong is a meditation technique, like Yoga or Tai Chi, that is efficient and helpful for ones health. Falun Gong has about 100 million practitioners around the world.
